Most household cleaning products in use contain toxic chemicals that deteriorate health and jeopardize the health of the environment. You can make low cost, non hazardous cleaners yourself. Here are five recipes for safe cleaning: 1) All purpose cleaner for appliances, walls and tiles: Mix 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup vinegar and 2 cups warm water. 2) Mildew cleaner: 1 cup vinegar and 1 cup borax. 3) Toilet bowl cleaner: Use baking soda and scrub with toilet brush or pour 1 cup of borax in bowl and let stand for an hour before scrubbing and flushing. 4) Glass, window and mirror cleaner: 1 cup vinegar mixed with 1 quart of warm water. 5) Furniture polish: Mix 1 cup of mineral oil with 1/8 cup of lemon juice. Apply with a soft cloth then polish. |
